Oldest Carnival

A portrait taken in one of the oldest carnivals in the world. The Vevčani Carnival, known as Vevčanski karneval in Macedonian, is a traditional cultural event held annually in the small village of Vevčani in southwestern Macedonia. Renowned for its uniqueness, rich folklore, and satirical elements, the carnival is said to have a tradition spanning over 1,400 years, surviving various rulers, conquerors, and changes in Macedonia.
