On a Big Sur Drive

A friend and I were on Highway 1 heading home from a photo excursion in Big Sur. It was the late afternoon and some rain clouds were rolling in, blocking out the golden sun and blue sky we had enjoyed that day. We came around a bend in the road and this beautiful landscape emerged before us. Awestruck, we pulled over at the next rest stop and began snapping away. I could see the beautiful colors and lights in the sky being reflected onto the variations of blues in the sea. I loved how the clouds lay softly on the hills, and how the pinks and yellows in the foreground contrasted those ominous colors so perfectly. The post and barbed wire in the foreground are a great juxtaposition to the delicate flora around it. This scene really encompasses what Big Sur is, one of the most beautiful examples of natural bounty you can find.
