13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World

It was our first time in Denver and despite the snowstorm, we made a spontaneous decision to drive our rental up this mountain. We followed the road ahead and in the midst of being lost, we found this wonderful and quiet view above the clouds. Best decision we made that trip.
