16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
On The Horizon
A beautiful sunset on the coast of the Pacific in California. The beach is called Deer Creek, after the canyon road under the same name that begins across the Pacific Coast Highway. The surf was producing some nice sets, with small back waves moving diagonally, creating some nice geometric shapes on the smooth sand. The reflection of the colors of this sunset on the ocean was brilliant.
