While traveling with a Non-Government Organization in Cebu Philippines documenting the progress of reconstruction to village homes, our vehicle made a brief stop along the only two-way road in and out of the jungle land of Libaong. An elderly village man was perched up on a bench resting in the shade having a smoke. He never said a word, but his face told me he didn't live a life of luxury and his eyes were darker, deeper than the space itself full of memories.
