ONE STEP MORE

The photograph was taken on the of Eid ul-Fitre before the mass gathering of morning prayers (Namaz) which is generally held at the Holy Mosques or at a convenient place for prayer. In this case it is RED ROAD of the city of Kolkata. More than 100 thousand Muslims gather here for the morning prayers, which mark the end of Islam’s holy month of Ramadan. Eid is seen as a time of forgiveness and of thanksgiving to Allah for helping people complete their spiritual fasting. Not only this, Muslims donate food, money, garments etc. to those who are less fortunate. In my photograph a physically challenged person along with many others gather from the early morning near the place of prayer to get a share of the donations from the devotees who comes here for the prayer. The donations they distribute also called as “Zakat” means to share one’s own income with the poor’s or less fortunate’s.
