14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Onlooker

Quiet and poised, the fishing cat turned to watch the people that watches it. It senses no danger, but remains cautious as is its vulnerable nature in such an environment. Their numbers are shrinking in Southeast Asia because of diminishing wetland habitats. We must conserve in order for these beautiful wild cats to become truly wild.
