ORCA world's largest direct air carbon capture and storage plant

ORCA world's largest direct air carbon capture and storage plant has started operating in Iceland. On September 8, Iceland saw the opening of the thus far largest device for capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and storing it in the volcanic, basalt underground. 'The Orca Plant' is a joint venture by the Swiss firm Climeworks and the Icelandic ON Power energy firm, fuelled by green geothermal energy. The device is in the middle of a volcanic field and denotes merely the early stages of a process that could potentially significantly reduce our CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
