Two of the biggest cities in the US (New York and Chicago) are taken as an example of the contemporary American habitat. Vollmacht wants to understand what is the relation between humans and the spaces that surround them, how light plays a role where buildings are composing the horizon and what are the archetypical forms that have been chosen to populate our cities. Skylines are iconic and contemporary buildings are exemplary.
