organ pipes

I'm an extremely slow diver and when I have my camera, I cover very little distance. On the lookout for special patterns and structures, I meticulously scan my environment. This is a macro shot of a Tubipora musica, commonly known as organ pipe coral. It's what science sometimes calls a "false coral", meaning that it does have a calcerous skeleton, but it's not a part of the reef structure building group of scleractinian corals.
