This is a composite image of a tree trunk with colorful lichens from another tree trunk and a closeup of river birch bark. For the past three years I have been interested in combining plant and natural images with structural forms. These structural forms are sometimes manmade and sometimes natural. I therefore create an image that is different from, but suggestive of a new natural form. This brings about a synthesis of nature/structure/natural structure that has implications architecturally and in terms of painterly image and form.
