13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Pacific Pastel

There are times when I look in your eyes and I see eternity stretched out before me. When I need your love will you call out my name, will you cry, will you be there? Stay with me, don't leave me, is all I hear you say. Somehow that keeps me from all that I'd planned this day. You promise me one thing, but I worry to believe. If I ask for love, would you stay with me anyway? All I have ever wanted is your sweet abiding honest love. Of course I will stay, as my plans have been tossed away. Tonight we lay in the wilderness as we have so many times before. I look in your eyes, and don’t care for anything more. Tomorrow we head back home. In the morning I will gently wake you with a smile, we'll pack our gear and slog back to the other world, the fake one. Until then let's watch the eternity before us as it is all we have left.
