When I picked an errant leaf off my porch, it reminded me of a scarf I wore many years ago. The pattern looked like a paisley print. I put a portion of the photo on my Facebook page and asked folks what they thought it was...got all kinds of answers. Finally, since there is one in every crowd, my smarty-pants cousin guessed "a decaying leaf'. she was right, but her answer was somewhat jarring to me as decaying was not an adjective (although true) I would associate with the graceful swirls and colors of this remnant of fall.
