The middle North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota has an incredible geological feature known as Palisade Head. Rock climbers, hikers and vista-seekers regularly come to this easily accessible spot - On TOP. My children and I being some of those, having many times hiked the two domes and all the way down to nearly the water, and watched the Big Lake from the towering cliffs. This day, for the first time, we brought our paddles and made it to the bottom of Palisade. The water goes from 500 feet deep to mere feet deep very quickly, and some of the only sea caves on the north shore are there to explore. My son paddled the big lake solo the first time this day, and my daughter went through sea caves for the first time ever.
