I spent a month in Cuba, it was the second time I had visited and I found it to have definitely gotten worse since 2006. Outside of government propaganda, the reality is that there are long lines to get any supplies, from soap to chicken, from baby milk to sanitary pads. Petrol and electricity are rationed, spare parts for cars are non-existent, those who work in tourism have money but cannot spend it anyway and therefore try to organize trips to Miami starting with empty suitcases to then be able to return with everything they needed by your family The photo portrays Pancha Gutierrez, an elderly lady who spends her days sitting at the entrance of her house in Old Havana, watching life pass before her, the children playing, the drunks hanging around, her children every day they go to queues dreaming of running away
