Panoramic shot of Tiger leaping gorge, China

The Yangzte river is perhaps the most important river in China. As the space between mountains narrows to twenty metres, the otherwise placid river turns into a raging torrent at this point near Lijiang in Yunnan province. The fury of the river has inspired locals to come with a story of a tiger leaping across the gorge to get away from a hunter.
