Past and Future Meeting in the Present
The Ñustas (princesses) are young women from Salasaka—an indigenous community in the Ecuadorian Andes—who commit to preserving their ancestral knowledge, becoming an active link between humanity’s natural past and sustainable future. They are living proof that progressive and conservative currents can flow alongside one another in harmony. This picture shows the 2025 Ñusta next to the 1976 Ñusta during a parade where Ñustas from the last 50 years march together.
