14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest People
Patriots
Priest Dionisy Kostomarov Oryol Svyato-Troitsky Church Yes, I can call myself a patriot. I am a patriot of humanity, I believe in humanity, I love humanity. If we speak more narrowly, I love my country, I love the people of differing religious views, different nationalities, who live alongside me. I believe that the basis of patriotism is not simply love for one's country, it is love and an accepting view of other countries, other cultures. Among people, there is nothing different, we are all the same. We are all people, we are all brothers, we are all one before the same questions that life poses. We are one in trying to be good neighbors, to be humans... not only in a biological sense, but as a family.
