Peak to Peak

The mountains of SE Alaska are often obscured by clouds. From the outside there's not much to see, but from the inside, the mountain scenery is magical and mysterious. This photo was taken near Upper Silvis Lake outside of Ketchikan. After a winding path up to the summit, the well-defined trail is replaced by a series of posts to guide you as you traverse the rocks and snow on top of the ridge. Searching for the next post in the clouds is a great adventure and you can't help but stop to admire the next peak on the journey.
