Pelicans
This Pelican pair seems to be in a very jovial mood. I found them in this attractive pose in the water body of Ranganarhittu Bird Sanctuary . Pelicans are large heavy looking birds with short stout legs, fully webbed feet and enormous flattened bills underhung by a capacious elastic skin pouch. Of the three varieties of Pelicans found in India only the grey Pelicans are resident the other two are normally winter visitors. Pelicans are voracious eaters and devour large quantity of fish.
