During a week long canoe trip down the lower Wisconsin River in southwestern Wisconsin, a group of pelicans on a sandbar took flight as we rounded the inside bend of the river. This was the only group of pelicans spotted on our 100 mile journey and a first time viewing pelicans in Wisconsin for most members of our group.
