Pelota Purépecha is an Aztec game similar to hockey played by the Purépechan people in south central Mexico. It's making a comeback as people become interested in heritage sports. This photo was taken in the village of Cuitzeo which I visited for a performance of the Morelia International Organ Festival. As we left the church after the concert, a group of young men were playing this sport in the village square.
