Here is the youngest bison in the herd at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge in Prairie City, IA, November 25, 2022. This was taken as sunset approached. The State of Iowa has worked towards reestablishment of their-once abundant prairie grasses and, like elsewhere, recovery of the bison whose virtual-eradication remains a national embarrassment. Here is an example of our penance.
