Petal Perfect

I feel such a freeing feeling when shooting flowers. There is so much room for expression and how you want to portray it. I grew up in the south and the most popular art hung in homes was botanical prints of magnolia flowers. My grandmother had on in particular that had the ambience that felt like summer nights in the south. While living in Pennsylvania I've noticed lily flowers everywhere. To the natives, it's just as commonplace as a magnolia. I wanted to capture a lily flower in the essence of the painting my grandmother had. There's a comforting feeling I get when I look at this photograph knowing that I did just that.
