“Phantom Ship” a Volcanic Rock Formation
Crater Lake was formed due to a enormous volcanic eruption that occurred almost 8000 years ago that caused what was left of the mountain top to collapse in on itself. The crater filled with water from rain and snow since the eruption. The “Phantom Ship” volcanic rock formation was created during the eruption.
