Picking Red Chillies
Bangladeshi Women workers with colorful umbrellas sit in circles as they sort through a sea of red chili peppers. The women, each with their own wooden bowl, were examining thousands of the chilies to weed out bad ones before they were sent to market. They get nearly $2 ( 160 BDT) after 10 hours of work and in some places they get less than this amount. Chilli peppers are a major part of the Bengali cuisine popular in Bangladesh and are used as part of a combination of spices for various meat dishes, including chicken and beef. Bogura's chilies are famous around the country.
