Pigeons surround the Boudhanath stupa in the early morning hours.

Pigeons rest on the stupa dome and stretch their wings in the early morning hours. The stupa is busiest with pilgrims in the early hours of the morning as well, often before sunrise. The pigeons and dogs that live around the stupa are kept well fed by Buddhist pilgrims who do so to accumulate good merit and spread compassion.
