Pilgrims in Nanda Devi Sanctuary

Nanda Devi Raj Yatra is one of the longest and most difficult pilgrimages worldwide. Its participants trek barefoot through the Himalayas for three weeks. This is a rare event happening every 12 months. The pilgrimage is devoted to the cult of Nanda Devi, the Goddess Mother and a Sacred Mountain – the highest peak that in its entirety lies in the Indian Himalayas.
