Place
19/3/2025 Samarcanda Uzbekistan Registan Once, Registan Square — the “sandy place” — pulsed with history: a center of markets, religious, political, and cultural events, surrounded by madrasas that preserved the knowledge of the Timurid era. Today, for young Uzbeks, it stands as a symbol of a reborn identity. Growing up after the Soviet period, they are rediscovering their country’s cultural and architectural roots, while studying at modern universities, taking part in festivals, and engaging with the digital and global world — all without forgetting the legacy of their ancestors.
