Platzkart

A "Platzkart," or a ticketed, reserved-seat, third-class rail car wherein passengers from all walks of life share the same cramped, unglamorous accommodations, is a much-romanticized feature of Russia's public rail system dating back to the Tsarist era. The Platzkart remains a popular and economical option for Russia rail travelers today.
