Podarcis lizard taking a portrait at the edge of its den
This photograph captures a full-body profile of a Podarcis lizard resting at the entrance of its den, carved into the trunk of a tree in the "Ciane's river" reserve, in Sicily. The animal is perfectly positioned along the edge of the hollow, its slender form outlined against the dark interior. The contrast between the textured bark, the shadowed cavity, and the poised reptile creates a scene that feels sculpted by nature itself. This moment reflects the quiet elegance of reptilian behavior—alert, still, and seamlessly integrated into its environment.
