16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Portrait of a photographer and the spirits of the past
This picture shows Martin Luther King, Jr.'s room in the Lorraine Motel, now part of the National Civil Rights Museum. He was assassinated on the balcony outside the room on 4/4/1968. Visible in the protective glass is my reflection, photographing the room, as well as that of my wife and some of the other visitors.
