Prayers They Won't Hear

Japanese prayer sticks (O-toba) by a grave in a cemetery. The burial grounds in Japan are quite characteristic and are a real proof for how precious land is in this island country. The graves take particularly little space, being of very small dimensions, as well as rather close together so that as little as possible of the precious land is occupied. The prayer sticks invite a reflection on how religion is a source of hope for humans, making death somewhat less ultimate.
