Predator-Prey Bat-Frog Reflection
A fringe-lipped bat, Trachops cirrhosus, and a túngara frog, Engystomops pustulosus, have their predator-prey relationship reflected in time. This picture was taken at the Gamboa Bat Lab of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama. Using flight cages at the Gamboa Bat Lab, behavioral biologists are able to effectively study sensory and cognitive ecology of Neotropical bats and their prey. This photo was taken inside one of the flight cages, using a bat that had been caught nearby in the wild, studied for a few days, and then released in good health back into its same wild territory
