The lakes of Amboseli are seasonal and are mainly located within the western part of the park. This picture was taken at the Kioko Lake during the area’s dry season. Flamingos were once almost absent from the park, but are now increasingly present. The huge flocks are beautiful in their own right. However, I find that ‘mirror-image’ photographs, capturing the reflections of the birds on the shimmering lake surface, are particularly striking.
