I travelled to French Polynesia to a hidden lagoon to witness one of mother nature’s most elusive events; the mass spawning of marbled groupers. Every year between June-July, marbled groupers would gather by the thousands with only one thing on their minds; to procreate. The actual spawning lasts for only 1 hour, and it takes a lot of experience and luck to guess when exactly that would be. This photo was taken on the day of the actual spawning. The male groupers were bursting with primal urges that they were turning white in colour. Their faces were determined and they all stood steadfast in their positions, not budging, no matter how closed I swam towards them. The groupers would remain orderly until it was time for all matter to break loose.
