16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Protest at Selma fifty-two years later

I was attending a 10-days pilgrimage to the deep South to learn about the Civil Rights Movement. Upon arriving at Selma, it was the fifty second anniversary of Bloody Sunday. I joined force with the Black Lives Matter protest. It was my first time at a protest, and in walking with people demanding for justice, I knew what it means to be an American. I felt a spirit that commands me to use my Iphone 5 to capture this special moment.
