Puffin Poses in Rock Nest

An Atlantic puffin (Fratercula arctica) peeks out from its rocky burrow on Petit Manan Island, Maine. As the volunteer lighthouse keeper, I had been constructing rocky alcoves along the shoreline to promote nesting. While checking one from last year, I came face to face with this photogenic, unfazed individual!
