Lake Matheson in New Zealand is a magical place for photographers and travelers! There is 3 mile hike that takes you around the lush vegetation that surrounds the lake and at various viewpoints you get to see Mt Cook in the background and often, on a still day, a beautiful reflection in the lake. This morning my 3am wakeup call was well worth it. I arrived at the lake and was gob smacked when I saw the mist on the lake, low fog near Mt. Cook and then some clouds moved over Mt Cook just as the sun was rising creating a magical scene.
