Queen Liliuokalani’s Banyan

The largest Japanese garden outside of Japan is in Hilo, on the Hawaii’s Big Island. The garden was dedicated in 1917 to Hawaii’s first Japanese immigrants who worked the sugar cane fields, representing the contributions of immigrants to the American Experience. An Asian American woman standing next to a large banyan tree, representative of hundreds of years of immigrants’ contributions to the national fabric.
