16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Signal Mountain Perspectives

As mentioned earlier, Friday the 14th was a most productive day (actually they all were). ;-) Originally, I had planned on driving up Signal Mountain to shoot a sunset after chowing down at the Signal Mountain Lodge (great food BTW), but we had time to spare, so we took a scouting trip around noon time. Needless to say, what we witness at that time was mesmerizing, and I was not about to walk away empty handed. As far the sunset capture is concerned, my research indicated that sunsets viewed from the summit of Signal Mountain ranked in the top five for Grand Teton NP. I am slightly inclined to agree!!! I have to admit, I am still getting goosebumps thinking about it. What an honor to bear witness to such a spectacle
