Rainy Day At a Cafe

It was just one of those dreary, drizzly, cold and cloudy days. It feels like gray! It’s painted with quiet AND somber, peacefulness and solitude… Raindrops fell from the sky, the earths tears trickled down from above. On days like this, sometimes, it’s hard to carry the weight of the earth’s seemingly sad emotional state. And, sometimes, it can be equally AS difficult to carry your OWN emotional state. Quiet rainy days, such as this one, often by nature, force you to confront your aloneness…so much so that on SUNNY days, you wonder how you can so easily take for for granted the privilege of spoken words & cherished conversations. Much like rain, sometimes alone feels like drowning; and, other times like a light sprinkle without the overwhelm caused by a complete downpour. In this image, I chose to stay at the cafe alone AND ‘feel’ the rain without the usual and subtle cafe distractions: No chatter from cafe-goers talking, no clinks of champagne glasses “Cheers-ing” …no songs or birthday candles or joyous laughter to provide a welcome distraction…from, well, yourself. This photo illustrates an opportunity to find peace and comfort within your own solitude. Embrace your alone-ness, feel the rain AND just be: Perhaps, at first, in bits and pieces when you notice the natural world is presenting ALONE as an alluring opportunity. Rejoice when you can in the noise of life; but, also remember to cherish your own self-reflection IN magical moments like this when the universe gives you the gift of solitude.
