Summer Palace was built for the royal family and they stayed there for quite a long time other than the Forbidden city. Summer Palace is just like a picture scroll and they literally have a place called "Strolling Through a Picture Scroll". The lake and the mountains in the back are just like in a painting. In the rainy day, it adds the sadness to it that its glory and owners are long gone.
