Rappelling at Sunset
After spending the day trail running and hiking at Smith Rock State Park in Oregon, I grabbed my camera bag and hiked up to 'Monkey Face' rock: a popular rock climbing destination in the area. The first time I visited this spot, I had envisioned this exact photograph but it would take three more visits until I would capture it. It's common for climbers to rappel here after a multi-pitch, so I hiked there for sunset in hopes that I would catch a climber rappelling with beautiful lighting to accompany it . This image was taken roughly ten minutes after reaching my destination. I quickly set up my camera and snapped away. The moment the climber touched ground, I walked over to him and was able to share it with him!
