reach out

This photo was part of a collection I created for a college class, the project was meant to represent my chronic illness and how it affects every part of my life. This particular photo has multiple meanings, the many hands all reaching out, they could be others reaching out to me, when I am overwhelmed or in sensory overload I feel like any hand touching me is a thousand hands grabbing and pulling at me, angry, violent. Or it could be my own hands, endlessly reaching out for support from others, continuing to make myself vulnerable despite being hurt because I know that there is no shame in needing help.
