13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Red Barn
This is one of the barns of a well kept Amish Farm in a nearby Amish Community in Charollte Hall, Maryland. The quickly cleared roads allowed me to get out for photographs soon after the snow storm ended. The eco friendly nature of the Amish Culture promotes sustainable energy and ecology maintainence as evidenced by the absence of power lines leading to the farm buildings--mainly because they don't use the power grid to operate their farms.
