Red Flamingo at Lover's Key Beach, Florida

The picture is showing a red flamingo standing at an empty beach at Lover’s Key in Florida watching the sun setting over the Gulf of Mexico. This was quite an exceptional sight. Even though flamingos are a famous theme on Florida souvenirs and postcards, these birds do actually not live in this state. Usually these animals are no mavericks, but spend their life as part of a huge flock. This flamingo obviously was lost during his travels. Nevertheless he seemed very calm and at peace with himself. He was very trusting and we enjoyed each others company for several hours.
