Red Peeling Bark on Madrona tree
Madrona trees red bark peel off in August in the Nortwest revealing a smooth leathery sensuousness. The berries of the Madrona were used by Native tribes fresh off the tree, cooked and added to other fruits, and dried for winter use, and simmered into a cider.
