I was in D.C. for 1 week and wanted to capture an incredible sunset. On this day I had given up because there were no clouds or anything dramatic. On my way to a metro station, I saw this incredibly backlit Washington Monument scene. I was running out of time to get out of the city because of a long commute but had to stay for this! So I got out my tripod and lenses and moved in the center of the Mall to frame this incredible scene depicting a sky composed of red, white, and blue.
