Reddish egret breeds elegant plumage
Reddish egret preens elegant nuptial plumage between fishing jaunts on a spring evening at Bunch Beach Preserve on San Carlos Bay in Fort Myers, Florida. At low tide, many species of birds can be observed fishing here in the shallow lagoons interspersed with swaths of sand. Opportunities to view reddish egrets are special to photographers and birders, due to their animated behaviors while fishing, and also due to the rarity of these birds, with 5000 pairs estimated to exist worldwide.
